Odissi Recital – Indian Classical Dance

Kundalin The Awakening is a dynamic dance recital exploring the core tantric aspects of Kundalini and pure consciousness. Performers follow the artistic direction by Guru Bichitrananda Swain, Rudrakshya Foundation of Odisha, India.

In human beings (Shakti) the feminine side is called Kundalini. This inherent energy is said to rest at the base of the spinal cord. The object of the Tantric practice of Kundalini-yoga is to awaken this cosmic energy and help it ascend through the chakras (psychic centers) which lie along the axis of the spine as consciousness potentials. Shakti (kundalini) will then unite above the crown of the head with Shiva (the pure consciousness).

The ultimate aim of a seeker is to awaken the Kundalini and make it rise in the body till it merges with pure consciousness. Kundalini is the source of untapped energy stored in the body of each human being and constitutes the source of basic energy. It is generally portrayed as a coiled serpent or serpent-power remaining hidden in the Muladhara chakra at the base of the spine.

This is relevant to Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, Internal healing, Holistic healing and general awareness – and will be explored throughout this vibrant performance.
